Sony's latest SXRD projector, the VPL-HW10


Sony has made a big impact in the home theater world with their line of SXRD 1080P home theater projectors. First came the Qualia, followed by the VPL-VW50, 60 and 40 and their higher-end siblings the VPL-VW100 & 200. Sony is again breaking new ground with the imminent release of the VPL-HW10 at less than $3500!

The Sony VPL-HW10 uses the same 1920x1080 SXRD (Silicon Crystal Reflective Display) panels as the previous VPL-VW40 and has the same 30,000:1 On/Off contrast ratio. The main difference in this model, other than the price point, is the smaller size and somewhat shorter throws. The HW10 should supports 1080P-24 for more accurate display of film-based video (from compatible sources) and both automatic and manual iris control.
